This is a fantastic immersion blender (also known as a ‘stick blender’). “This” is the KitchenAid variable speed stick blender, and one of the things that I love the most about it is that the business end of it detaches and can be thrown right in the dishwasher!
And that’s not just me saying that the blending arm can go in the dishwasher, I got that direct from KitchenAid!
The reason that I reached out to KitchenAid is that I received this with a user manual that says only to “wash the blending arm in hot soapy water”. But that, KitchenAid told me, is an old version of the user manual. So if your user manual says to wash the blending arm in hot soapy water, you probably got one with the old user manual. You can check this by flipping the user manual over and looking in the lower right-hand corner, you will see (probably) the date “11/19”. KitchenAid updated the manual in 2020 to say that the blending arm is dishwasher safe (the newest manual is dated 11/20). This bit of news made this great blender perfect for me! :~)
And that’s before you even get to the fact that it has variable speed control! No “off/on only” power and speed for this baby – you can take it from 0 to 60 in a split second, but you can also take it just from 0 to 10 or 20!
I should also add that I used to have a professional chef-level cordless KitchenAid immersion blender. I like this one much better! It’s lightweight, the cord doesn’t get in the way at all, and, again, dishwasher!
As of the time of this writing (November 2024) you can get it at Target and other department stores, and, of course, on Amazon for $59.
